3Landers Team Dissolved

The End of an Era

@3landboy has unfortunately decided to dissolve the entire 3Landers team. The news was broken to the team on Christmas Day. As expected, the team took the next few days to spend time with their families and process the news.

@Maaaaahhhaaaaa (the former 3Landers CEO) revealed the news to the public on New Years Eve. The rest of the team also released statements shortly after.

The news came as a shock to the entire community. From their perspective, things were going great and the 3Landers brand was just starting to gain some traction. With the introduction and incorporation of the new Minimon brand, the future seemed bright.

@3landboy posted an announcement in Discord on January 2nd explaining his reasoning for the layoffs.

@Maaaaahhhaaaaa has been hosting Spaces to discuss the news and answer any questions about the announcement. Despite the claims above, the team denies ever being requested to reduce their salaries. There seems to have been a fairly large miscommunication.

@NFTStubby has yet to release a statement, but the community has been assured that we will hear his piece when the final Minimon discussions are finalized.

My Thoughts

This is a tough story to write, as I have become quite close to the team over the last few months. To be completely honest, meeting @Maaaaahhhaaaaa was the only reason I decided to join the community in the first place.

As for the future of 3Landers, we will have to wait and see what @3landboy has in store. I do believe this was an unfortunate step backwards for the brand.

I’ve had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with the (former) 3Landers team and now consider them all good friends. I know every single one of them will go on to do great things in this space. I appreciate everything they’ve done and have tried to do for the 3Landers community.

Rektguy Gifts Equity to Holders

Rektguy holders received some amazing news on New Years Day in a post from OSF! A surprise snapshot, taken at 12 AM EST on October 26th, 2023, set the stage for a unique reward to holders: equity in Rekt Brands Inc.

Rekt Brands Inc 

Rekt Brands Inc is the entity behind the Rektguy contract, the Rekt logo, the Rekt IP, and all the goodwill built by the Rektguy project. The announcement also highlighted the company's first venture, Rekt Drinks, a new initiative slated to launch this year. Notably, while Rektguy NFTs themselves remain under Creative Commons Zero (CC0), allowing for unrestricted use, the equity offer adds a new dimension to the project's value.

Equity Gift: A Token of Appreciation for Collectors 

The move to gift equity to collectors at the time of the snapshot is a token of appreciation for those who have supported Rektguy as an art project. However, it's important to note that trading Rektguy NFTs post-snapshot does not transfer any equity.

This announcement is not just a reward for NFT holders; it signifies the start of a new adventure for Rekt Brands and its community. By offering equity, Rektguy acknowledges the integral role its community has played in its journey and opens up new possibilities for shared success and growth.

Claiming the Equity: A Compliant Process 

Rektguy has emphasized the importance of compliance and value in this process. Holders included in the snapshot will have the opportunity to complete KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures and claim their shares in Rekt Brands Inc. The company plans to communicate further instructions on how to claim these shares, demonstrating a commitment to a structured and legal approach.

A Significant Trend Emerges in the NFT Space
Rektguy's recent decision to gift equity to its holders, closely following on the heels of The Plague's similar announcement, represents a trailblazing move in the NFT industry. This trend highlights a revolutionary shift where digital asset ownership begins to intertwine seamlessly with traditional company equity.

This move, yet again, sets a significant precedent in how NFT projects can engage with their communities.
